There is no such thing as a free.....
If you are considering adopting or purchasing a cat, please consider:
Initial investment: $150-1200 depending upon purebred or mix
1st year kitten vaccines and exams: $300 - 400
Spaying or neutering; $50-250
Routine veterinary care: $50 - 300
HOUSING: Your home suits them just fine, provided there is an easily accessible litter box. Some cats appreciate having a crate or bed in a quiet corner.
CLEANUP: Clean litter is vital to your cat's health. Clean the litter box daily, and change the litter regulary. Thoroughly brushing your cat's coat can reduce shedding and the amount of hair your kitty ingests...which can mean fewer hair balls.
DIET: Kittens eat three or four time a day. Adult cats eat one to three times a day. Have a vet recommend a food and a feeding routine. All cats should be encouraged to drink as much water as possbile.
KIDS: Cat personalities vary, but many cats enjoy socializing with children. Make sure play is always supervised.
LIFE EXPECTANCY: Cat can live up to 20 years or longer, especially if they stay indoors.
