Tea Tree oil is used for so many different things in humans, but to a dog or cat can be extremely toxic, even fatal.  We have a patient who is fighting for his life due to a high exposure to Tea Tree Oil.

The Tea Tree in this case was being used to control fleas, there is an old wise tale that states it can act as a flea and tick preventative, that is inaccurate information.  There are much more effective methods of treatment for fleas and ticks.

Below is the link to the Pet Poison Control website with information regarding Tea Tree Poisoning.  If you have any questions about this Blog, please feel free to contact our office to discuss your questions with our highly trained staff members.

I would never take my pets anywhere else. They made the hardest decision of my life so far just a tad bit easier. Very compassionate and you can tell they all genuinely love our animals.
